1.     CBWSLC APS-M

Management and control of CBWSLC is implemented with APC-M.  APS-M is designed to manage all types of CBWSLC devices and is used in all types of LCs, which are located on shunting loops and stations with any number of ways and are equipped with any interval traffic control systems. EACS with 4 points is used as notification sections. LCs notification sections control is carried out with applying to interval traffic control system and is not depended from it. Length of notification sections is based on technical task and maximum speed of train in the section.

Further in the text the following abbreviations:

CAN - Controller Area Network;

ABS – automatic block system;

APS - CBWSLC

UVK – computer control system

ASDK – automated dispatch control system

DC – design documents;

COD – crossing obstacle device;

OD – obstacle device;

SB – switchboard;

EI – electrical interlocking;

VZU– overvoltage protection cabinet

1.1     CBWSLC APS-M structure

The APS-M system includes the following equipment:

- UVK cabinet with ASDK subsystem

- APS-M cabinet

- Overvoltage protection cabinet VZU

- switchboard SB (main and backup)

- LCI of electrician

- videomonitoring LCI

- barrier colour light signals, 2 pcs

- gates crossing with LC colour light signals, 2 psc

- crossing obstacle devices with point machines, 4 pcs

- combine power supply device CPSD

- battery cabinet

- EAC devices.

UVK and APS-M cabinets is metal cabinets containing a set of modules which are structurally finished products allowing them to carry out the replacement in case of failure without reinstallation inside the cabinet.

Overall dimensions of cabinets have the following meanings 2131,5x740x740 mm (height x width x depth).

The cabinet plug connectors are provided for connecting measuring and test equipment to verify the hardware parameters and functional appropriateness of APS-M and UVK under the manufacturer and technical specifications, as well as under exploration without UVK reinstallation.

The composition and the number of modules depend on the type of LC.

APS-M includes switchboard SB for the protected LC. SB is device installed outside the APS-M cabinets. SB provides control of LC technical means and shows the status of LC technical means and situation in zone of LC notice. 2 SBs installation stipulates on LC. The main SB is installed in the LC duty, back up SB installation location is determined at the design stage.

LCI of electrician consists of industrial computer with hard software and special software, which displays detailed information about situation on railroad haul and LC and condition of equipment of APS-M and LC automation means.

The information comes in the FEU from ASDK subsystem.

Ultrasound radars (UR) are designed to vehicle detect which range with  obstacle devices (OD).

Power supply of UR is carried out with 36 V DC.

UR heating is provided at lower than 5 °С ambient air temperature.

External installation Connect to the APS-M modules is carried out with plug connections. Modules connectors have jumper cables that define the serial number of the module among the modules that control the same APS hardware.

Figure 1 shows the structure diagram of the APS.

1.2.         APS-M interaction with external devices

UVK and APS-M cabinets are used to control and manage the operation of all technical means of LC control.

APS-M provides the control and management with the following technical means of CBWSLC:

- basic automatic barrier type Sh (PASh) with AC electric motors with a rate frequency 50 Hz rated voltage of 220 V;

- LC colour light signals with LED heads;

- barrage colour light signals with LED heads with functional testing of power circuits of shed elements in the “cold” state;

- UZPs with electric motors EP-UZP or EP-UZPA with electric motors type MST 0.3 and control system of vacant SKS cap piece;

- electric bells (synthesizers) of automatic alarm sound;

- power supply devices at railway LC in the control section of voltage level and AC feeders switching and UPS system efficiency.

APS-M provides the information retrieval from the EACS based on company manufacturing counters.

APS-M has videomonitoring LCI with the ability to video view and record with the backup data of 30 days.

APS-M at protected LCs provides interactions with LC duty officer to manage LC technical means, indicate the status of LC technical means and situation in zone of LC notice.

APS-M time setting during operation from the power supplying moment is no more than 30 seconds with loading time of operational software and special software and initial testing.

APS-M time restart (recovery operation state) after a failure is determined at test stage. Absence of exposure to manage objects can be guaranteed on the restart time, and disruption of manage objects operation depends on the objects state at the time of the failure.

2.1     Positioning of APS-M counting points

Installation location is determined with notification area calculated length, which is determined with the section speed and LC calculated length. Limiting the LC area counting points should be installed at a distance of 30 m from the LC axis, +/- 1 m. If there are several tracks, counting points number is increased by the amount of the number of ways.

2.2     Switchboard

Switchboard is the only element in the APS-M, which is designed for manual control of the LC automation means. Also using the switchboard helps to control the situation at LC and APS-M failure.

Controls of switchboard are illuminated buttons.

To set the LC state with switchboard the following system should be applied – for LC transfer to a state “LC is opened”, “LC is closed” and the UZP and obstruction light selection should be pressed consecutively with 2 buttons. The power button should be pressed first, and then the confirmation button no more than 5 seconds.

Switchboard is complemented with 2 buttons for each track to carry out the counters reset. “Reset axes” and “Confirm reset axes” buttons.

The following indication about LC condition is on the switchboard:

-         Train is in notification area (with the forthcoming sides)

-         LC is opened;

-         LC is closed;

-         LC is emergency closed;

-         LC barrier is enabled;

-         Serviceability of APS-M;

-         Failure of LC automation means.

Figures 4a and 4b show outside appearance of SB.

Power supply of SB is AC 220 V, 50 Hz with standard deviation 198-242 V. External circuit connectors to SB is carried out through hermetic quick connectors.

SB has internal elements overvoltage protection.

2.3    Power supply system

APS-M power supply is provided with:

-                     2 independent AC power sources, frequency 50 Hz and 220 V with a valid range 198-242 V through the uninterruptible power supply devices.

-                     “Combine power supply device” CPSD is used as power supply system.

-                     Power supply blocks provide a deviation from the normal output voltage of no more than 5 % during change the external power supply devices voltage in the range 198-242 V and ambient temperature in operation range.

-                     Devices operation time during the loss of external power supply devices must be minimum 8 hours.

-                     To protect equipment from affect and dangerous interfering signals all cables are entered into the APS-M and UVK cabinets through the VZU. It provides stable operation of equipment under conditions of high electric currents.

2.4     Integration with EI and CBI

Connection between APS-M and ABS or EI systems is provided with the data transmission channels through 2 two-wire cable communication lines with twisted pair connection cores and core diameter minimum 0.9 mm.

It is possible to communicate over a digital radio channel 160 MHz.

To provide data communication between UVK and APS-M blocks special cable line is used. It is a twisted pair cables referred CAN.LOW or CAN.HIGH. Similar cable pairs are got to the outputs of SB connector.
